Word Quest is a free word-search puzzle game from Stratos Games. Drag across a letter grid to find theme-related words — horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and reversed in any of those directions. Five modes: Classic (linear levels), Story Mode, Categories (themed packs), Custom (your own word lists), and Daily Check-In. Built for the casual mobile word-game audience that opens an app for ninety seconds and wants a small win.

How Word Quest plays
The board is a grid of capital letters — between 4×4 and 8×8 depending on the level. Above the board is a list of three to eight words, themed by the level (theme AT THE BEACH → SAND, SHELL, SUN, TAN, YACHT).
You find a word by pressing the first letter and dragging across to the last letter. The drag works in eight directions: horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and any of those reversed. When you release on a valid word, the cells light up with a coloured highlight, the word is struck through in the list, and a satisfying sound and haptic fire. When all words are found, the level completes and you collect coins — sometimes a power-up.
That is the loop. It takes 90 seconds to 4 minutes per level. It is paced exactly for the moments you actually open a casual mobile game — waiting for the kettle, the bus, the call.
Five modes, five reasons to come back
Classic — linear levels
The default mode. Levels stack one after another, difficulty ramping by grid size, word count, and the frequency of diagonal and reversed words. Classic is the spine of the game — the long-term progression most players will live in.
Story Mode
Themed level chapters wrapped in a light narrative. Each chapter has a theme (AT THE BEACH, IN THE KITCHEN, etc.) and a short story beat between levels. Story Mode is for the player who wants the levels to feel like they are going somewhere, not just stacking.
Categories
Packs of themed levels you can dip into out of order. If you only want to play WORLD CITIES for a week, you can. Categories run as evergreen content — we add new ones regularly.
Custom
You supply the words, the game builds the puzzle. Useful for teachers, classrooms, study groups, or anyone who wants to make a personalised word search for a friend.
Daily Check-In
A daily reward streak. Open the game once a day, get a small reward — coins, a power-up, sometimes a category unlock. The point is not to gate gameplay behind a streak; the point is to give players who already open the game daily a small, honest reason to come back.
Power-ups and coins
You earn coins for every level you complete and for every daily check-in. You can spend them in the in-game shop on extra power-ups, ad removal (yes, you can pay once and remove ads forever), or new themes.
Power-ups help when you are stuck — reveal a letter, highlight a word’s general area, or extend a guess. They are earnable from gameplay; the shop just lets you stock up faster if you want to.
What we will not do in Word Quest
Word Quest is in a genre that has a lot of unfortunate examples. We are explicit about what this game will not do:
- No fake-multiplayer. There is no opponent racing your timer with bot moves dressed up as a real player.
- No “you’ll lose your streak unless you watch this ad” coercion. Streaks are a small reward, not a hostage situation.
- No themed packs gated behind paid-only. If a category is free for one player it is free for everyone.
- No clone art. The reference for the genre is a frame-by-frame analysis of how players actually drag and how the cells should respond — not the assets, the categories, or the copy. We ship our own.
Roadmap
In order:
- Classic mode + Categories to a playable web build. The skeleton of the game.
- Daily Check-In plus the coin/shop loop. The retention loop.
- Story Mode + Custom Mode. The variety modes.
- Capacitor wrap to Android and iOS. Native release.
- Web portals — Poki, CrazyGames — once the web build is solid enough to publish to third-party portals.
